Hoping for a Spark grill update. Any news Mark?

Would love to see any pre-production pics of the new version Spark as well.

Mark: You may consider this minor harassment.  I am really in no hurry as, quite frankly, the only time I look at the Sparks is when I turn them on and off.

(Sorry.  I couldn't resist)

I've finally been able to get back to many such projects over the past week or two.  They are moving, but nothing interesting to show as of yet.

We only have a couple of original Sparks left.  As I've posted in a few of your threads, and elsewhere, surface mount 2 & 3 way Spark/Catalyst family members will be available soon after the reworked Spark and 8ST are put to production.  When that happens is dependent on both my time and reliable delivery of new parts by suppliers.  I make no projections nor promises of when they will be available for order beyond some time this year.

I suspect I'll instead offer a clean means of tilting down the speaker rather making a slanted cabinet, as the requirements of specific aiming for each room differ significantly when you factor in speaker height and distance from the listeners.  As a general rule of thumb starting point with our coax's you want to aim the surround speaker just above the furthest listener.

Oh wow, how did I miss that   Got to much on the brain these days. Sounds like I'll be jumping on board when these guys come out.

I like that idea of tilting the speaker down. My ceilings are lower then most so the angle would be different then those with average ceiling height or higher. Definitely makes sense.

So it's been 6 months since I last poked at this subject... I was reminded when I noticed that small rings of dust were collecting around the front of the Spark where the magnets are embedded. Wipes off easily but made me think...

Any word on those Spark grills?

I plan to have the Spark grills done by the end of January as I our cabinet shop is pretty well swamped through their year end break with our pending orders and some large projects they have.  I expect we'll be able to ship them in February.  I will post on the forum when we are ready to take orders.

Great news Mark. Looking forward to hearing when these are available. Any preview pics of what these look like?

Did grills for the "old" Sparks ever manifest themselves? I'm sure the focus now is on the new model but, figured I'd ask.

If they did, it was a well kept secret as I was originally going to get 4 of them.  Not a big deal for me, particularly if he gets the Spark II, up and running sometime in August (with grills of course)

Well at least you have sparks, I just missed out and waiting to get 4 next gen's but details of when they will be available is unknown

Much rather have speakers without grills than no speakers

We recently wrapped a few test grills in fabric and with some minor adjustments hope we have something deliverable.  I hope to send a couple out to a customer to check how well they work out in the field and *if* they hold we'll have grills available to purchase for a modest cost.

I haven't announced anything on new Spark availability as I don't want to hear anyone tell me they sold their speakers and they are waiting on new speakers. It's happened before!  To make it perfectly clear...  If you haven't yet seen real pictures of a new speaker, they aren't super close to production.  Things are moving much more quickly again in development, but at this time I can't be certain how quickly each party will get key parts ready for production or delivered.  I'd say we're at least a month out, but could be 4 months out.

The only thing worse than getting razzed about getting around to introducing a product for which no money has changed hands is unhappy customers as they wait for delivery of products ordered.

we can razz you more about spark grills if you like

thou no longer available - these are pretty kick ass speakers
if you can maintain the performance/size ratio  in more living room friendly look - killer product
