So was the MFW 15. Before the Submersive. Is it a single 15"?
See some of the background explained in this thread about the MFW-15 Mk2 amplifier upgrade. The MFW-15 came after the SubMersive in ~2007 when I was asked by the owner of AV123 to design a few subwoofers for them to produce and sell as their own on a royalty basis. There was a lot of great potential, and many MFW-15s were sold at exceptionally good deals to help the cash flow of the company. Ultimately they kept asking their supplier to lower the price of the amps as they bought more, and after the first 300 units, parts, mostly capacitors, of lesser quality were used and let to extensive failures. Early on both I and one of their electronics consultants recommended spending about 15% more on a more reliable amplifier supplier, but they wanted to "give our amp guy a shot." The company had quite the soap opera going on and ultimately burned out in rather spectacular fashion. The new old stock cabinets I have offered as the MFW-15 Turbo-SS units were rescued from the auction of the assets and refinished/refitted. The cabinets they produced were always one of their biggest strengths. The original cabinet design worked very well in a manageable size that is just slightly smaller than a SubMersive, and very much led the push of the internet direct companies starting to offer designs with bigger woofers at a time when everyone had 12" drivers in big ported boxes. To the best of my knowledge, there were somewhere between 2000-3500 units shipped. It's fuzzy as I was only paid royalties for the first few months of deliveries. Given how owners were left hanging with the amplifiers I had long wanted to offer a suitable solution. While the amplifier is a large % of the price these originally sold for, they are top quality and serviceable long into the future with a dramatically higher level of performance than originally offered. With the driver upgraded these become serious contenders even in today's crowded subwoofer market.
