Hi Rick,

It appears I missed this while I was out of town at the beginning of Feb.  There are plans for the Catalyst 8ST which was first mentioned long ago but has not yet been put to production.  It will be a 54-56" tall, ~11" x ~11" floor standing speaker with DSP programming for standard (w/subwoofer) and full range response.  There are a handful of items and projects ahead of this one and we are still working on insuring there will be sufficient 8" woofer supply to keep them in stock.  I can't give any confident time line on these other than more than 3 months out (and might be a good bit longer depending on suppliers).  There is plenty of interest in this product with customers and myself.  It will be introduced as soon as I am confident we can reliably deliver them.

The 8C stands are now in stock and the Spark & Catalyst surrounds are in process.  I am still working on insuring we have adequate supply of the 8" drivers for the 8ST & 8CL as using 4 8" woofers per unit will require many more on hand.  The only thing worse than waiting on a product is introducing it and not being able to meet demand.

Mark, any idea on when the 8st might be available? Are we still talking months or even beyond the end of the year?

As an owner of the beautiful, wonderful sounding, 8Cs, I too wonder when Mark will carve out the time to produce the 8ST.  The 8Cs are, simply put, fantastic speakers which I expect to own and enjoy for many, many years to come.  I have no doubt Mark, with his incredible talent and knowledge, someday (hopefully sooner, rather than later), will make a full range floorstander which will compete favorably with many of the so-called high end audiophile speakers.

If you don't mind me asking, how large is your room? Do your 8Cs manage extremely high volumes well in your room? Ever wish you had the 12C?

Hi Kain!

I don't mind whatsoever.  We're here to share and (hopefully) learn from one another.

I use my 8Cs in my law office.  I have a corner office on the top floor of the building and I have the speakers pointed away from the rest of my floor.  My office is about 13 X 20.  I crank up the volume regularly.  Sometimes I miss telephone calls because I don't hear my phone ring, even though it is right next to me.  You have to have priorities, right?[biggrin]

Now at home, well... I keep thinking I ought to pull the trigger on 12Cs and give my Wilsons to my son.  I have 2 Submersive HPs right now and plan on acquiring 2 more when $$$ permits. I'm aspiring to be Chuck (audioguy)![biggrin]

Well if you're aspiring to be audioguy, then don't let a small thing like lack of funds slow you down!!

We've made some minor upgrades to the 8" woofers to better withstand deep bass operation and make them more consistent to produce, which were 2 of 3 issues keeping me from finalizing the design.  While the performance of the woofer will remain the same, we will eventually be changing to a different frame for the 8" woofer to allow for better and continued availability.  Changing a frame size is easy if it's smaller, and can potentially require a full re-work of a cabinet if it's too much larger.  Some of the candidates have larger mounting edges and might require the box to be slightly wider (still 12" wide or less - currently 11" wide).

Mark, thank you for the update. Im looking to have selected new speakers to be in place for Christmas. Any chance you will have something in place by that time?
