Updated with current pricing as of May 15th, 2014.

With Thanksgiving upon us and this busy time of year approaching, we have been working with our cabinet shop to quickly catch up on the significant backlog of SubMersive HP & F2 cabinets on order.  August through October had been some of the busiest months in our history with great reception of the new "+" option for the SubMersive.  Over the next 1-3 weeks we will be clearing through the backlog and have more in stock as those deliveries arrive.  This of course means there will still be some waiting on certain finishes.  While we were waiting for so many cabinets arrive, I happened to catch up with our original cabinet vendor for the SubMersive.

Long story short, timing was good for both of our businesses and we came to an agreement to run a large batch of SubMersives at a very attractive cost.  Once they process all the time and materials into these baltic birch plywood cabinets, I expect the future costs will be higher.  Depending on the interest and available pricing we may do a run of these textured black painted cabinets 1-2 times a year, but I guarantee pricing will be much higher, as there will be a significant price bump coming to all powered units after the 1st of the year.  I almost forgot... these are in stock and being assembled - shipping within 3 business days! [cool]

Here are the details on the original Textured Black SubMersive cabinets:
  • Textured black paint (textured flat finish - great for hiding or where they are not under a spotlight)
  • Baltic Birch construction (very resistant to dings or dents)
  • Flush mounted amplifier (original style had the amplifiers recessed 3/4" deep)
  • Peg-lock grills (magnetic grills only available on veneered versions)
  • Limited run production - when they are gone they are gone, no back orders, payment in full is required at time of order.
  • e-mail ( sales@seatonsound.net ) or call us at 773-290-8436 for shipping quotes and to place your orders.

Pricing: $200 less than black oak/maple: (+ shipping)
  • $2495 SubMersive HP+
  • $2395 each SubMersive HP+ (+shipping) for return customers or when ordering multiple powered units
  • $995 SubMersive HP-Slave (+shipping)
  • $3490 SubMersive HP+ & HP-Slave with $205 flat rate shipping (lower 48) = $3695 delivered
  • $4790 SubMersive HP+ *pair* with $205 flat rate shipping (lower 48) = $4995 delivered
  • International "i+" versions add $300 to above pricing of + units.

This is in fact the same cabinet shop and standard finish JTR has on all of their speaker and subwoofer models.  There are many older pictures of the original SubMersives on our forum and AVS.  The paint used is the same but with a finer texture to give a slightly more uniform and cleaner look.  Here are a few quick pictures I took of the first units assembled last week:

[SM-txt-blk-05]
[SM-txt-blk-04]
[SM-txt-blk-03]
[SM-txt-blk-07]

And a few more next to a black oak SubMersive:
[SM-txt-blk-02]
[SM-txt-blk-01]
[SM-txt-blk-06]

Be sure not to wait too long in making a decision.  I don't expect these to last long, especially once I make the separate announcement of upcoming price increases to all powered units.  While pricing really should put this savings at $150-100 per unit, I want to keep subwoofers heading out the door making for more happy owners while we catch up with our standard inventory, and with this offer saving $400 on an HP+ & HP-slave set.  I guaranty you will never see these models at this price again.

Well we've started with a very good level of interest with ~10 units spoken for already. [cool]

I did want to add one note to those ordering these units.  Just as is the case with others using the same finish (JTR) and with most of the plastic based, truckbed-like finishes, there is a smell from the cabinets while the final 5% of curing is happening in the ~30 days after finishing.  We have been allowing the cabinets air out here and at our cabinet shop for a while to minimize the aroma in the home, but don't be surprised if it smells like fresh paint when they are first unboxed.  It was only in rare case we had customers notice the issues with the original cabinets years back, but I wanted to give fair notice for those who know they are hyper sensitive or particularly concerned about such smells or exposure so there are no surprises.

For those who are particularly sensitive to any such smell, please select any of our veneered options currently priced at $2395 which are 100% water based paints, stains and top coats.

We're flying through orders of the textured black cabinets, which isn't all that surprising given the current discount and pricing.[smile] While we have 2 more deliveries from the run of cabinets to receive with quite a few more available, new orders will be closer to a 5 business day lead time.  I wouldn't expect these to be available for more than a few weeks.

Quick update:  The textured black cabinets have been selling very quickly as anticipated.  We are already down to the last 7 of the limited run.  Fortunately this week I was able to add another dozen cabinets to the tail end of the run.  We're still catching up to some e-mails and calls, but there are still plenty for all who have contacted us thus far.

Hi All,

We have been extremely busy with orders the past two weeks.  We are down to the last few of the extra dozen cabinets I had added to the order.  If anyone's debating a last minute order before the first price bump, please e-mail us at sales@seatonsound.net tonight or tomorrow and we will just need payments sorted by Monday.  If I do have enough orders for more than what are currently being built, I will add more to fulfill the orders.  Textured black orders placed today and tomorrow will be shipping between Jan 20th and Feb 3rd.

Thank you for all the interest in this offer, as we sold and built many more than I had initially expected.

My staff won't be in the office tomorrow, but I will be answering e-mails and the phones when I can through the day.

The first post has been updated with current pricing for the HP+ models (HPi+ versions +$200).  Slave models remain the same price.  Depending on how many who e-mailed us on Tuesday follow through on their orders, I believe we have 9-12 units left after I added a few more units to the order to insure we had enough through the end of the year.  All cabinets in the delivery we will receive Monday are sold.  Orders placed after Jan 1st will be shipped before the end of January, likely sooner.

Anyone have the HP+ & slave in a big room? Or jtr captivor s1 (2) or captivator s2 (218's). Marks look nicer and with dual 15's you'd think you'd get tighter bass plus looks better. But never heard anyone whose heard 2 captivators or 1 or the s2 (2 18's) marks I'd think be better than a s1. Placement wise the cap s2 would be easier than 2 HP's or HP+ & 1 slave so 4000 watts to both. Wile cap s2 gets 4000 watts to high excursion woofers as said. I'm waiting for HP's once I hear from Mark. Just want to know how the others sound.
Also anyone hear triple 8 HT 4 home theater or triple 12's. With my cab these would fit better with mid/tweeter at the top. Also 5 8's from both sides. Marks have amps. But I already talked to jtr for mains after mark was down & unable to get me. But got to me in TI,e to do the subs. Anyone hear the other soeakers & or both?

Please respect the intended purpose of this forum thread topics and use it for its intended purpose. In this case, please limit the discussion in this thread to SS limited run subwoofer PRICING AND AVAILABILITY.

If you want to engage in thousands of opinions and debates on which subwoofer best fits your needs, try a neutral forum such as AVSforum where these topics are discussed to death... For example, there are over 898 opinions in one post that discuss at nausea the exact same issue you are addressing in a SS pricing and availability thread???:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1387178/archaeas-kansas-city-blind-subwoofer-shootout-2012

They blind test (hence the thread title blind subwoofer shootout) the exact subs that you want to engage discussion in a pricing and availability thread??

HINT: if your post does not respect the forum topic and intent, your post will be ignored and deemed a nuisance!

If you are selling AV equipment, try use a forum with that intent (aka Audiogon). If you want to discuss power condition in general, there are over 9,000 posts on this subject matter alone already on AVSforum and Hometheatershack. If you want to discuss your physical and mental health issues, there are hundreds of forums on the Internet that are staffed with medical professionals and people that are interested in such issues.

Thank you

With the single unit remaining, and having received a few questions by e-mail, I wanted to quick add the cost to upgrade an HP to a HP+ & Slave.  For those who own a textured black SubMersive this offers both a savings and a match to your cabinet.  The current price for the HP+ amplifier upgrade is $1600, and the textured black HP-Slave is $995 for a total of $2595 - $800 once your HP amplifier is returned for a total of $1795 + shipping.

Shipping for the amplifier is typically $18-25 each way and $110-145 for the Slave for a shipping total of $146-195.
