Today , I have just received My Cats 12 C LCR.
There was one big problem with this delivery.
FedEx Has made a big mistake declare the weight of the Cats.
In stead of 428 lbs, Fed ex declare at 1302 lbs.
I have to pay tax for 4,500 USD in stead of 2,000 USD.
I was so upset.
To others, please do check the weight and others information just to avoid this kind of problems.
Somehow, after I received my Cats.. i feel a lot better.

Damn. That does suck. That is a huge difference. But, at least you have them and you can enjoy them now. __________________ I simply love this stuff. |

Hi Blackdevil..
I wont be able to give you my impression as I am still in the " equipment collecting" state.
I guess I will be hearing your thought about Cats performance first.

| Wow! You gotta be itching to hear them! I probably won't be hearing mine until June/July. Basically, as soon as my theater room is done. I'm itching to just get them anyway but I have no place to put them. The room where my current theater system is only 13 by 14, and that room already has that system, and a huge DJ set up in it with 2 JBL 18" powered DJ subs and matching 15" tops lol. The room is already over flowing with speakers. |

I'm somewhat confused,... will you elaborate?
I appreciate the heads up,...I too am about to finalize/submit an order, and I don't want any snags.
You paid an incorrect fee that was unexpected, or a correct fee that was unexpected?
Are they making it right?
Thanks and best of luck w/set up and enjoyment... |

| From the first post, it looks like it was a Fedex issue. Some how they declared the weight to be way more then it should have been, So I would say the problem starts and ends with them if they issued an incorrect weight. FOH, what sort of setup are you finalizing? __________________ I simply love this stuff. |

This is the first I heard of the issue. I just did some digging and think we figured out what happened. For those who haven't been following Chayut's system evolution, he is located in Thailand. While the declared value and all other details were correct, somehow the saved quote and documents multiplied the weight by 3 related to a software glitch in FedEx's document generation. I'm seeing if there is anything we can do at this point. We could have probably corrected the issue if it was held in customs, but with it having been paid I'm not quite sure. This is the first time I've encountered this issue in more than 5 years of international shipping with FedEx. The issue was with customs paid, not cost of shipping which was pre-paid.
Obviously this has no bearing on domestic shipments as there are no destination or customs charges. __________________ Mark Seaton

Hi Chayut,
I am sorry to just now hear of the customs issue you encountered. As I noted above, I have already started checking with my representative to see if there is anything we can do. If you haven't yet paid for the customs, we can very likely help. If you have, I will probably need to wait for the billing documentation to arrive and to have more information available for a dispute.
Do enjoy the Catalysts. __________________ Mark Seaton

Hi Mark...
Thank you for your concern.
I really do appreciate that.
The custom has been paid.
Mark... Do not worry about this issue. I am fine now with what happened.
Thanks anyway..

So, you were getting three Cat 12's. Nice. Did you already have a sub and surrounds(SubMersive and sparks?). Just asking. I think it would be cool if you could take some pics once everything is setup. Congrats. I have heard them twice and I am sure you will really enjoy them. __________________ I simply love this stuff. |

Hi Mike..
I already have 2 Submersives( original).
I am waiting for the 2400w version to be available.
I can not go with sparks as surround due to wiring difficulties.
I will be using Klipsch rs-62 II bipole surrounds for both side and back surrounds.
if anyone think it is a bad idea to use Klipsch please tell me.
I am sure that Cats as LCR in my system would compliment my 150" 16:9 screen.
I will take some pics when everything is ready.

| Nice! Very similar to my future set-up. I got the Cat 12cs coming along with 2 submersive HPs. I'm gonna add sparks for surrounds in the future. |

Well, that is certainly one bad ass setup you will have. Dual SubMersive subs and a front stage of Cat speakers will sure be fun. Spec wise, the Klipsch seem like a good fit. Frequency response down to 50 Hz and a SPL rating of 97db. I don't think that they will have any problem "keeping up" One of the early adopters of a Cat/SubMersive setup is using Triad surrounds so I think you will be fine with the Klipsch. Now, I can officially say that I hate you too . A 150" screen . That is some serious size you have there(I have a 42in TV). I assume that your room is a nice size with a screen like that and that you have a great projector. Can't wait to see some pics of this one. __________________ I simply love this stuff. |

| Right now I have a Marantz receiver with 9 year old Paradigm Monitor 7s with matching center/surrounds etc and a 40" LCD in a small room. I'm finally finishing my basement and half of the entire basement is going to be a home theater. The system in there will consist of Cat 12cs for L/C/R, the 2 submersive HPs, 4 sparks for sides and surrounds, an Epson Pro Cinema 6010 projector, projecting on a 110" screen. I'm looking at the Integra DHC-80.3 to use as a pre/pro, and an Oppo BDP-93 for blu ray, DVD, CD, SACD etc. Should be a very dramatic upgrade from the current system to say the least lol. The room is still incomplete but will probably measure around 24 feet or so by 14 feet with low ceilings (about 7 feet). The low ceilings make the 2nd row of seating a bit of a challenge since the ceiling is too low for a riser so I'm still trying to think of idea to elevate the rear row without having people hit their heads when they stand up lol. |

I've been considering some pro audio surrounds from a local shop, this will determine my total needs,....and whether I need sides and backs (and brackets) to complement the rest of my order. So I'm unsure, however in about a week I'll know. Thanks
