Submersive in Black Oak
Two early pictures of samples of the current flat black SubMersive ($1995): Please note the texture/smoothness on the flat black has some variation from batch to batch and is not intended to be a furniture-like finish. This standard finish does now incorporate the same magnetic grill, precision mitered construction and a flat black finish which works well in a dark room or in less prominent placement in a living/great room. __________________ Mark Seaton

New cherry stain option of what we will simply call Red Cherry (original red finish below officially referred to as Merlot):

Two pictures of the flat/standard black finish added to the first post. We are continuing to refine this finish, but this is the replacement for the original textured black paint finish. If anyone has a specific need to match an original SubMersive we can still source them if needed with a 3-5 week lead time. Acoustic performance remains the same for all versions.
Thank you!

New Red Cherry stain option added to the 2nd post above. We went back and forth with a few stain suppliers many times to finally get a red that didn't take on any orange or purple hue, just a bold, but still natural looking, red. This finish looks even more interesting in person as it interacts with sunlight a bit more than the rest. All of the finishes shown for the SubMersive are available on the Catalysts as well.
Comparison pictures can be very hard to take given the variables in computer monitors and even how different lighting interacts with different colors. I had pulled both finishes out to the dock on a sunny day giving one look at the comparison. On my own monitor I would say the Merlot finish (on the left) looks a bit less brown than what I see in this picture, but it is pretty close in what you see between the two:
