BTW    going along with the above comment about timing etc

I only have 2 unspoken for drivers at this time, once those are gone it will be at least 6 weeks if not longer before I get another pallet of drivers in.

IF your on the fence or was thinking of ordering in this time, you might want to do it sooner than latter.

Holy mother of Pearl! My amp and driver showed up at my door stop the other day. I almost fell over trying to pick up the DRIVER. What a BEAST! The amp was a piec of cake compared to the driver! Hope to get them installed tonight!

Yea, it does weigh a few pounds...

I upgraded a long time ago and am pleased.  It has been a notable improvement in quality and output w/2.

The installation was a breeze.

The blue light on the amps are very bright and distracting so I too covered them (with a triple layer duck tape flap for now)

Well I am bailed out for now. I grabbed a partsxpress 500 watt plate amp, and maybe its because the originals never worked right, but I am flabbergasted at the output, I had gain at 5 and I had full cone excursion el rapido.

I set it at 3 and began check calibration with meter did each sub separate then together. Gain of 3 is correct, after cal matches the phoenix it output its gain at 5, and Onky sub out -7.

Its working in the corner at one end of couch, with Epik Phoenix midwall. 900 cu foot room, and when MI6 blew up in SkyFall, I thought couch was gonna dance off with us on it....I measured 115db during the replay, dialogue was about 70. insane.

I thought I would not like the results, but it sounds best it ever has frankly.

Punchy is what comes to mind now. Slamming Punch.

Don't know if I got wood ears or what, but I feel like a kid again with these 2!

Which Partsexpress plate amp did you use? Did it fit into the MFW's amp opening?

Hello guys, First time poster but long time lurker!

After a long time of waiting to get the funds in place, I managed to catch Kevin before he left for vacation and I'm now the proud owner of two turbo kits.

 I have had dual MFWs for 5 years or so and after numerous amp replacements & capacitor fixes one finally died about 2 years ago. At the time the V3 was available from Murrel so I replaced the dead amp and was back in action again. Until a year later when my second MFW quit.

That was about a year ago and Murrel had sold out of V3s [eek]so I decided to save up the cash to turbo both of my MFWs.

Fast forward to today and the first one is installed. The directions on this site were helpful and the project went smoothly except for forgetting to install the weather stripping before installing the new driver[nono]. Luckily I noticed the error before I screwed the driver in to place!

I took some pics along the way which I will post later.

The quality of the kit is first class, all parts fit perfectly and the anodized plates look like they have always been part of the sub. Great quality binding posts are included and no soldering is required. Did anyone mention the driver is an absolute monster![biggrin]

So far I have only had time to do one of the two subs but it sounds fantastic. I have some calibration questions to ask for when I get the second up & running but will do that later as I don't have time to write any more at the moment.

Many thanks for the report Dan.  I look forward to your impressions after you get the pair upgraded.  The upgrade should not be subtle. [cool]

For setup the most important thing is to first verify the PEQ filter on the front panel is set near 0dB (note that's ~2 o'clock on the dial) with the Q and Freq set full counter clockwise (~7 o'clock).  This insures the EQ isn't affecting things as you start calibrating and any changes imparted are intentional.

anymore turbo kits available?  also i just moved to a new house that had a sub hooked up before and they had ran around 25ft of 14 guage wire in the wall.  is that a sufficient size speaker wire to use with the turbo and dayton amp or do i need to run new wire in the wall?

as for the 25ft of 14G wire [mad]
If there is any way you can attach some 12g to it and pull it through I would really like to see that happen.  If you dont listen at real high levels for extended periods of time you might be able to get away with it.
