DoBerry:  I have two MFWs and did the Turbo upgrade on one of them that had a bad amp.  I opted to go that route because I like the aesthetics and form factor of the MFW cabinet.  Also, I researched and one would be hard-pressed to find a sub to the level of performance of the Turbo for what the Turbo upgrade costs.  But I haven't actually tested other subs in my room to verify actual performance.

I will say that the Turbo gives great performance and at some point down the road I'd like to upgrade my other MFW.

I will be catching up on all the emails today after I get home from my day job, sometime after 7pm tonight

What is the waiting period for the turbo kit?  My amp finally gave out and I either need a new amp, or a turbo upgrade.

I think Kevin has the lead time back down to 1-2 weeks at the moment, but please confirm with him by sending an e-mail to orders@motorcitycustomaudio.com.

I have had the turbo kit for a few days now and have a few questions.

1.  I was watching inception and a few times during the movie the amp went back and forth from blue to red.  I read earlier in this thread that even if the amplifier goes to solid red and stays there that the amp and sub have some sort of built in protection.  Is my understanding correct?

What i am trying to get at is there any risk of damaging the amplifier or subwoofer?

With other speakers i have had in the past. I would look for an audible distortion or clipping with the subwoofer.

2. It stated earlier in thread that its a bulletproof design of the amp paired with the speaker.  From what i have gathered is that is nothing to worry about playing this subwoofer at very high levels as if you reach the limits of the amp or speaker it will turn itself down by the amp?

If you could explain that in more detail i would appreciate it thanks.

So far i have been very impressed i just want to make sure i am getting the most out of the speaker but at the same time not risking damaging anything.

Yes, there is protection that has been adjusted based on the driver/cabinet, flickering of the light to red is of no concern, if you find that the light is on solid red, you probably should be thinking of getting a 2nd Turbo

No but I do not recomend extended periods of time with the light solid red

Most amps have some sort of limiting that protects only the amp as the manufacturer has no idea what speakers you will be using.  This is one major benefit of the kit, its designed to work together.

Use at very high levels is not an issue as long as the above is followed.  If used at high levels I would recommend good ventilation for the amp though as it will create a fair amount of heat.  Under normal HT use it does not get much more than warm to the touch
If you could explain that in more detail i would appreciate it thanks.

Kevin,

Finally got a day to do the install.  About an hour and a half.

Straight forward instructions.  Perfect fit and finish.

Great sound!

Thanks Kevin for a great product.

Saving my money for a 2nd turbo.  I'll be in contact as soon as I can.

You will let us know long in advance should you decide to stop manufacturing these, correct?  It took quite a while to accumulate the necessary funds to get one, but of course, now that I have one, I want to upgrade the other two.

No intentions of stopping manufacturing of these any time soon

If that were to ever happen I would make a post here about doing so.

Holy mother of Pearl! My amp and driver showed up at my door stop the other day. I almost fell over trying to pick up the DRIVER. What a BEAST! The amp was a piec of cake compared to the driver! Hope to get them installed tonight!

BTW    going along with the above comment about timing etc

I only have 2 unspoken for drivers at this time, once those are gone it will be at least 6 weeks if not longer before I get another pallet of drivers in.

IF your on the fence or was thinking of ordering in this time, you might want to do it sooner than latter.
