Barsoum Girgis
Hi guys,

I have a Submersive HPi+ (live in Sydney, Australia) subwoofer but the Green signal light wont turn on. It is connected to an Anthem MRX 720 and bass is on but very weak, even at maximum (0dB). I had connected it to a powerboard then upon investigation realised it should connect to the wall socket only. I then unplugged it from the powerboard and replugged it to a wall socket but get the same results. On the Anthem I have received a weird test sound and the graph has a HUGE dip from 60-120Hz which is apparently not like this subwoofer at all. I have to also add +10 on the MRX 720 after ARC for the subwoofer to get any meaningful bass, but it still sounds weak and bloated. I am worried it may be a faulty amp. Can anyone please, please help diagnosis this issue with me?

Kind regards
Barsoum

Hi Barsoum,

Please check your messages as I just replied.  This sounds like a cable/signal or settings issue if you have a green power LED but nothing on the Signal LED.  A strong dip at 60-120Hz could be a room acoustic issue related to the placement of the subwoofer.  With the Anthem products you can always use Quick Measure to check function of the subwoofer by placing the microphone a few cm from either cone and take a measurement.  This will mostly eliminate the room acoustic issues an allow you to verify the function.

Finally, do note the Volume dial indicates input attenuation, where 0 is in fact MAXIMUM, not minimum output.  As with most dials, clockwise increases the level.

I suspected it was a setting/output issue, but we never really know until you go through all the various possible problem points.  Very good to hear you got it sorted and rocking.
