I just got an AV123 Onix Rocket set including...
2 - RS760 Main
2 - RS250 MK II Surround
1 - RSC200 Center
1 - UFW-12 Sub Woofer

I paid $1,350 which I thought was a good deal.  The 760's have the bigger platform bases too which I believe was an upgrade.

Everything is in great condition.  As far as the UFW-12, I am not sure how to proceed.  I know I can send the amp and you can mod it to go much lower.  I also toyed with the idea of installing a TC Sounds Epic 12 or 15 and using a new Dayton amp.  Another idea is sending you the amp and installing a new driver.  I guess my question is how is the driver itself in the UFW-12?  I currently have a SVS 20-39, how would the modded UFW-12 compare to that in terms of SPL and low end extension?

Thanks, any opinions would be appreciated.

You got a great deal on some good equipment there.

Best bang for your buck is to have me just mod the amp.  The driver in the sub is a very good performer, it was the botch job that was done to the original amp.

I do also have a 15" upgraded driver that will be available soon, as the original supplier of the 15" that I used is not making them at this time.

I am also working on an 18" for that cabinet, but it is VERY early in the development stages, no comment if it will even work at this point.

The UFW-12Small Block is a real good performer, is very well behaved, digs deep and is sealed, that SVS is ported, so below the port tuning you will get room gain with the UFW.

Thanks for the reply, I've been waiting anxiously!  The UFW-12 sounds better with music than the SVS but the SVS for home theater is excellent.  Are you saying with the amp mod the UFW-12 can be expected to perform better than my 20-39PCi?  Finally, if I decide to do a driver upgrade in the future will the small block amp mod be suffecient or would I have to resend the amp to you again?  I remember reading that you do do different things to the amp with the small block VS the big block.

I am an electronics tech, could I get parts from you and board designations to do this myself or is it only strictly through you?  If just through you can I get a PM with your address and how to pay you?

My only other questions are...
Can I get grill pegs still?  I have 10 that broke off on various Rockets.

Can I get the spiked feet and brass pads still?  I did not get any with the set so I am just using rubber bumpers for the time being.

Do you have a stock driver UFW-12 in South American Rosewood with the small block amp mod so I can do 5.2?  If so, how much is it?

Sorry about that, day job and 60+ hr weeks have been keeping things crazy here as of late.

1. Grill Pegs..... I cant get anything for those, you might try looking at some of the speaker building supply places and see if you can find something close.

2. DIY....  There are over a dozen components I have to change out, plus some other fun stuff.  Not really something I want to let people do, plus I test every amp that goes out.

3.  Dont have spikes or pads for them, but let me look up the thread for them, you can get them from Parts Express if I remember correctly.

3.  I would say the UFW-12SB would be better than the 20-39.   The amp mod is specific for the driver, so yes it would have to be reworked.  To be honest you wont want  to upgrade the 12" driver unless your going 15" or 18"

4.  I no longer have any in Rosewood, I have several left in Piano Birds Eye Maple, a few in Piano Black and Madagascar Ebony (both tight and open patterns).

If your interested please email me orders@motorcitycustomaudio.com and we can go from there as its much easier for me to keep things straight via email than pm

Give me a shout I can help with the pegs and the spikes! I own all of what was left from AV123.
